Boudica
She loves the sweet smell of earth after it rains
Remembers her children through the long campaign
She is a magnet, a compass, a warrior queen
The heartbeat of Albion, an ancient dream
She loves the dancing of leaves and the star-filled nights
Remembers her daughters, and why she must fight
She’s a whirlwind, a tempest, the Romans bane
Heroine, legend, with a heart full of pain
She loves the warmth of the summer, the cool of the stream
Remembers her children, and what might have been
A fighter for freedom, for the tribal way
A woman. A warrior, that lives to this day
Dedicated to Boudica with respect by Peter Lukey.
